13, Jun 2017 By funkaar

The success of IIT JEE 2017 topper Sarvesh Mehtani has inspired state run telecom operator BSNL. Speaking to mediapersons, BSNL CEO Anupam Shrivastava announced the new “AIIMS IIT Aspirant Plan” for students targeting admissions into prestigious technical courses.

“Acing entrance examinations requires hard work and absolutely zero distractions”, Mr Shrivastava said. He was referring to Sarvesh who was off social media for two years. “Our new AIIMS IIT Aspirant Plan is for school students from Class 10 onwards aiming to secure admissions to top tier institutes. There will be zero data, voice only package. The kit comes with a pre-bundled SIM in a feature phone so that there will be no Wi-Fi access. These feature phones have zero multimedia audio, video storage capacities and not even games like Snake. The package will ensure zero distraction for our students. To get one, all they need is to bring their Aadhaar cards”, he continued.

In order to cater to the huge demand, BSNL has also tied up with leading coaching institutes like Bansal Classes, FIITJEE and Aakaash. The institutes will be offering this package as part of the welcome kit for all new enrolments. For students, who will prepare at home, there is also option of opting for a landline phone. “We have already run out of inventory in Kota”, exclaimed a BSNL official on the sidelines of the press meet.

BSNL is leaving no stones unturned to ensure this plan becomes a game changer. As part of free add-ons, students will receive a motivational sms every morning 5am and evening 11pm. They will also be able to register one teacher’s number for unlimited calling in order to clear all queries immediately. With new IITs and AIIMs opening up in the coming years, the number of aspirants will only grow as per BSNL projections, helping it plug the gap with the current market leaders.

“While Jio and Airtel are focussed on the present of the country, we are preparing the future. After all, it is our responsibility as the government operator and we will deliver that profitably”, as Mr Shrivastava signed off.
