Cracks developed in a close group of friends after one of the members felt left out from Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s wedding celebrations, as he saw all his friends posting snaps of the power-couple.
The friend saw stories and photographs in his group member’s social media accounts and realised that only he was the one who hadn’t posted anything about the much awaited ceremony. He concluded he was the only one not invited, and felt betrayed. This resulted in a rift among the group.
“I was casually scrolling and I suddenly saw two, three and later five similar looking thumbnails. I initially thought that it might be coincidence and one or two people could bump into each other at any wedding. But when I saw the other posts, I realised I had missed out on something”, says the friend, who doesn’t wish to be named. He hasn’t posted anything about the event. “They at least could have told me. They know I am a big fan of both of them. My friends could have talked the couple into inviting me”, he laments.
The friends claim they hadn’t received any invitation from anyone and were posting things just for the fun of it. “I am happy that I found something to gush about, that’s it”, says one of the members who posted with the hashtag ‘so happy for you two’. Another one, who used the hashtag ‘congratulations’ says, “Posting about it was the first thing that I thought of. Sometimes you don’t need an invitation to post about things.”
They claim it was just coincidental that everyone posted about it.
The disgruntled friend still isn’t convinced and thinks the sheer number of posts just shows everyone couldn’t have thought of posting about the same thing at the same time. “I am convinced they all went to the wedding. Ittefaq jaisi koi cheez nahi hoti”, he says. He questions why would people say things like ‘congratulations’ and ‘cuties’ if they were not invited.
The friends have been making an attempt to convince him by showing that they actually posted screenshots, mostly from the couple’s social media feeds.
