A 27-year old man was beaten up by at least five men at a nightclub in a mall at MG Road for being too polite to them. The incident took place when Satish, an IT professional (the victim), apologized for brushing his elbows against a girl on the dance floor.

Eye witnesses revealed that the fight broke out because the girl misinterpreted his gesture and slapped him, upon which Satish apologized again. This apparent display of gentle behavior invited the girl’s boyfriend’s ire and soon a fight broke out. The girl’s boyfriend was joined by his friends to teach Satish a ‘sabak’ (lesson) in how to behave with women.

The incident came to light only after CCTV footage of the entire episode was shown to Gurgaon Police by the hotel manager. Subsequently, a case has been registered in this connection against the 4-5 men under Sections 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of IPC.
